Chapter 23
Each time we partake of the sacrament, we renew covenants with the Lord. A covenant is a sacred promise between the Lord and His children. The covenants we make are clearly stated in the sacramental prayers. It is important to know what those covenants are and what they mean.

Note: Servant of the lord of the lord says that he is unworthy. Knows the importance of baptism.

Mosiah 21:33
And it came to pass that king Limhi and many of his people were desirous to be baptized; but there was none in the land that had authority from God. And Ammon declined doing this thing, considering himself an unworthy servant.

Note: We must not sell our birthright of the priesthood for things of the world

Note: Likens us unto beggars saying that God doesn't say, " he put himself in that situation and I shouldn't help him"

Mosiah 4:20
And behold, even at this time, ye have been calling on his name, and begging for a remission of your sins. And has he suffered that ye have begged in vain? Nay; he has poured out his Spirit upon you, and has caused that your hearts should be filled with joy, and has caused that your mouths should be stopped that ye could not find utterance, so exceedingly great was your joy.

Mosiah 3:18
For behold he judgeth, and his judgment is just; and the infant perisheth not that dieth in his infancy; but men drink damnation to their own souls except they humble themselves and become as little children, and believe that salvation was, and is, and is to come, in and through the atoning blood of Christ, the Lord Omnipotent.

Note: Did Elijah ask the Lord about calling down fire before he prayed for it in front if the priests?

1 Kings 18:37
Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the Lord God, and that thou hast turned their heart back again.

Note: The books of scriptures that we have on earth today are what we will be judged with.

2 Nephi 29:13

And it grieveth me that I should hew down all the trees of my vineyard, and cast them into the fire that they should be burned. Who is it that has corrupted my vineyard?

Note: This is how the Lord feels when we sin or turn away from Him.

Jacob 5:41
And it came to pass that the Lord of the vineyard wept, and said unto the servant: What could I have done more for my vineyard?

Note: Even if it looks like something good doesn't mean it is all good. Even a hint of evil is bad

Jacob 5:35
And it came to pass that the Lord of the vineyard said unto his servant: The tree profiteth me nothing, and the roots thereof profit me nothing so long as it shall bring forth evil fruit.

Note: The Lord will always blow harsh winds but always towards the promised land.

Ether 6:5
And it came to pass that the Lord God caused that there should be a furious wind blow upon the face of the waters, towards the promised land; and thus they were tossed upon the waves of the sea before the wind.

Note: It says Satan will have no power over the hearts of men for a "long time". Interesting.

2 Nephi 30:18
Wherefore, all things which have been revealed unto the children of men shall at that day be revealed; and Satan shall have power over the hearts of the children of men no more, for a long time. And now, my beloved brethren, I make an end of my sayings.

Note: Proof of other records. The Lord commanded the Jews to write what He said so why not the other tribes that he visited?

2 Nephi 29:12
For behold, I shall speak unto the Jews and they shall write it; and I shall also speak unto the Nephites and they shall write it; and I shall also speak unto the other tribes of the house of Israel, which I have led away, and they shall write it; and I shall also speak unto all nations of the earth and they shall write it.

2 Nephi 21:9
They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.

Note: The sign of the curse is the black skin and the reason is because of their iniquity

2 Nephi 5:21
And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, that they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them.
