Note: Joseph was the firstborn son of Jacob's first choice of a wife. His long awaited birth from his long barren wife marked a turning point in his life-he was ready to stop serving Laban and go out on his own with his family to start his own household.

Genesis 30:25
¶ And it came to pass, when Rachel had born Joseph, that Jacob said unto Laban, Send me away, that I may go unto mine own place, and to my country.

Note: Remembered in this verse shouldn't be thought of in terms of forgetfulness. God does not forget. He has no faults. He is perfect. He does all things in his wisdom and he knows all things. There was an appointed time and God finally acknowledged the appointed time. We think we are forgotten, perhaps even feel forsaken but in fact he has always been aware of us and loves us.

Genesis 30:22
¶ And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb.

Colossians 1:1
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, and Timotheus our brother,

Note: The creative process also involves personal development. We renounce the conduct of the old man of the world, the natural man. We must create a new man in Christ. We create using the tools of righteousness and holiness after the pattern that God has created in the example of Jesus Christ who established the perfect pattern of obedience and sacrifice.

Ephesians 4:24
And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

Note: Evangelicals like to use this verse to say that the restored gospel is 'another gospel' because the Book of Mormon's self-described assertion to be 'another testament'. But what they fail to understand is that it is in fact another witness (or testament or testator) of the same gospel that they profess to believe. It is the same good news: Jesus Christ has saved us FROM our sins!

2 Corinthians 11:4
For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.

Note: I think this verse really explains where grace comes from. Christ had all power and yet descended below all things and suffered all things on our behalf. Because he had all power, he could have used that power to free himself from the cross and it's torture. He had power to lay down his life and power to take it back again but he chose to suffer until he finished the very last dregs of the bitter cup. He said he could have called down 12 legions of angels to prevent himself from being arrested and delivered up to the Romans and Jews. That power that he could have used to save himself is the same kind of power that exalts us and transforms those just men and in fact "makes" them perfect.

2 Corinthians 8:9
For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

Note: I like what this verse has to say about the apostles and presiding authorities being 'helpers of our joy'. They are there to help us find joy, to help in God the Father's work, which is to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of us all.

2 Corinthians 1:24
Not for that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.

Note: Paul speaks to the Corinthians of anointing and sealing.

2 Corinthians 1:21
Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;

Note: Perhaps this 'precious stone' thought of by other rabbis to be the meaning of the window is similar to the illuminated rocks used by the Brother of Jared during his journey to the Americas.

Genesis 6:16
A window shalt thou make to the ark, and in a cubit shalt thou finish it above; and the door of the ark shalt thou set in the side thereof; with lower, second, and third stories shalt thou make it.

Genesis 6:12
And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

Note: Paul says here (and it is echoed in the Vision of section 76) that we will know as we are known, signifying that God knows us better than we know ourselves. We shall one day know ourselves even as God knows us.

1 Corinthians 13:12
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

Note: Our wickedness, our immorality and all our foul deeds become a sort of prison of the self. This happens in so many ways. Like a corrupt politician, you become haunted by the scandals of your past,

Romans 8:21
Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.

Note: The scripture says that Christ is the light of every man. Anything good, or hopeful or joyous in our lives is due to him and owed to his mercy and grace. Christ is the light that lights every single one of us. If there is anything good in us or in our lives, it is because the light that is Christ that is within us. That is why when a society unites wholeheartedly in the cause of Christ, it becomes a heaven or Zion.

D&C 93:2
And that I am the true light that lighteth every man that cometh into the world;

Note: Jesus uses the term exchange for your soul when he himself was preparing to exchange his whole soul, body and spirit for the sake of the whole world.

Matthew 16:26
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Note: I get the sense that starting about this time, Christ began to truly "confide" in his Apostles, his closest disciples. His mission while he was among them was to teach, lead, and serve them but the ultimate purpose of his mortal mission was to sacrifice himself through the excrutiating experiences of Gethsemane and Golgotha. His mission was to offer himself to atone for our misdeeds and the closer it drew, the more heavily it weighed on him. He shared this information with his disciples to prepare them for when he would no longer be with them in the flesh but also because I think he also needed a support system as he prepared for the Burden of all Burdens. Why else would he be upset with Peter, James and John for their slumber while he suffered?

Matthew 16:21
¶ From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

Note: How shall those see him who have not become the sons of God? We shall see him AS HE IS if we become the sons of God. How will he be seen otherwise?

Moroni 7:48
Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be purified even as he is pure. Amen.

Note: When Christ came, he found greater faith among some of the Gentiles than among the house of Israel itself. We should not be so surprised if we find great faith among those who are not actually Latter-Day Saints.

Luke 7:9
When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

Note: The people had different levels of perception and reception to Christ's miracles. Some thought he was a prophet. Others more accurately said that God hath come among us.

Luke 7:16
And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.

Note: Nevertheless-the most important word in the gospel. "We have worked all day. I see no point in continuing any further, nevertheless I will do it anyway." It's the most important attitude we can ever have in the gospel.

Luke 5:5
And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

Note: This is a very real temptation for Christ I believe. He truly had power to end it. He said in Matthew that he could have called down 12 legions of angels to stop what was happening. But he allowed it and suffered through it with full knowledge that he had full power to end it at any time. But he knew that he HAD to suffer for OUR sakes.

Mark 15:30
Save thyself, and come down from the cross.

Note: Lead him away safely? What did Judas think was going to happen to Jesus. Perhaps he was only betraying him but not unto his death.

Mark 14:44
And he that betrayed him had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely.

Note: I think he Christ had a twofold meaning. He was talking about both Peter and himself. Peter was tired but his spirit was willing to always follow Jesus. Christ himself was willing but he was bound by a mortal body which would take him to the very brink of death.

Mark 14:38
Watch ye and pray, lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.

Note: Abba is the English equivalent of papa or daddy. It is a very affectionate, close, personal appellation for the Father.

Mark 14:36
And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.

Note: Christ sat upon a beast of burden that had never carried a burden before. Christ carried a burden that no man had ever been called upon to bear before.

Mark 11:2
And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.

Note: Jesus told the Twelve plainly what would happen to Him when he went up to Jerusalem. He knew very well what would happen to him and what he was going to pass through. His disciples were warned ahead of time so that the events that unraveled around Christ's death would not come as a surprise to them and yet it still shocked them and surprised them. How often do we listen when we are warned sufficiently?

Mark 10:33
Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles:

Note: The disciples were told in no uncertain terms what would happen to Jesus but they did not understand and were afraid to ask for further clarification.

Mark 9:32
But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.

Note: Christ has risen to such fame, notoriety and dare I say celebrity that he can't go anywhere without being recognized. And note that this is before tv, film, photography or the Internet. He truly did draw all men unto him.

Mark 7:24
¶ And from thence he arose, and went into the borders of Tyre and Sidon, and entered into an house, and would have no man know it: but he could not be hid.
