Note: Without the robes of righteousness (ie temple robes), you would feel naked in comparison.
Also, compared to the glory with which God is clothed and the splendor which surrounds him, we feel almost completely naked in comparison.
Righteousness is often marked by obedience and sacrifice. It is often depicted as something hard to do and a hard lifestyle to follow but this scripture points out that we shall in fact have a recollection of all our enjoyment. There is so much joy to be found in righteousness, service and in doing as Christ did during his life: "going about doing good."
2 Nephi 9:14
Wherefore, we shall have a perfect knowledge of all our guilt, and our uncleanness, and our nakedness; and the righteous shall have a perfect knowledge of their enjoyment, and their righteousness, being clothed with purity, yea, even with the robe of righteousness.

Note: If our flesh should rise no more, we become subject to Satan. Therefore you can see that our flesh gives us power. Power over Satan that we would not otherwise have. Inherent in our mortal tabernacles is a power to overcome Satan who has no body and never will.
2 Nephi 9:8
O the wisdom of God, his mercy and grace! For behold, if the flesh should rise no more our spirits must become subject to that angel who fell from before the presence of the Eternal God, and became the devil, to rise no more.

Note: Remembered in this verse shouldn't be thought of in terms of forgetfulness. God does not forget. He has no faults. He is perfect. He does all things in his wisdom and he knows all things. There was an appointed time and God finally acknowledged the appointed time. We think we are forgotten, perhaps even feel forsaken but in fact he has always been aware of us and loves us.

Note: The creative process also involves personal development. We renounce the conduct of the old man of the world, the natural man. We must create a new man in Christ. We create using the tools of righteousness and holiness after the pattern that God has created in the example of Jesus Christ who established the perfect pattern of obedience and sacrifice.

Note: Evangelicals like to use this verse to say that the restored gospel is 'another gospel' because the Book of Mormon's self-described assertion to be 'another testament'. But what they fail to understand is that it is in fact another witness (or testament or testator) of the same gospel that they profess to believe. It is the same good news: Jesus Christ has saved us FROM our sins!

Note: I think this verse really explains where grace comes from. Christ had all power and yet descended below all things and suffered all things on our behalf. Because he had all power, he could have used that power to free himself from the cross and it's torture. He had power to lay down his life and power to take it back again but he chose to suffer until he finished the very last dregs of the bitter cup. He said he could have called down 12 legions of angels to prevent himself from being arrested and delivered up to the Romans and Jews.
That power that he could have used to save himself is the same kind of power that exalts us and transforms those just men and in fact "makes" them perfect.

Note: I get the sense that starting about this time, Christ began to truly "confide" in his Apostles, his closest disciples. His mission while he was among them was to teach, lead, and serve them but the ultimate purpose of his mortal mission was to sacrifice himself through the excrutiating experiences of Gethsemane and Golgotha. His mission was to offer himself to atone for our misdeeds and the closer it drew, the more heavily it weighed on him. He shared this information with his disciples to prepare them for when he would no longer be with them in the flesh but also because I think he also needed a support system as he prepared for the Burden of all Burdens. Why else would he be upset with Peter, James and John for their slumber while he suffered?
Matthew 16:21
¶ From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

Note: Christ pleads that the cup pass from him unless there is no other way except to go through with it. Christ had successfully mastered his own humanity, bridled his own passions up to this point and been a master of self-discipline. But now that he faced plunging into the very bowels of hell, his own humanity, his instinctual need for self-preservation kicked in and he faced the greatest moment of internal conflict that he had ever faced or would ever face.
Matthew 26:42
He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.
Matthew 26:42
He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

Note: In saying that the spirit is willing and the flesh is weak, Christ was teaching but perhaps speaking autobiographically of the horrors that awaited him. He was willing but but his flesh recoiled at the thought of what he would have to endure. I love him for being willing even though it was infinitely painful.
Matthew 26:41
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Matthew 26:41
Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

1 Nephi 2:1
For behold, it came to pass that the Lord spake unto my father, yea, even in a dream, and said unto him: Blessed art thou Lehi, because of the things which thou hast done; and because thou hast been faithful and declared unto this people the things which I commanded thee, behold, they seek to take away thy life.

Christ continued his march to his redemptive sacrifice even though he was to be betrayed by one and have the rest of his disciples be offended by him. He would be alone as he carried us all. (note for Matthew 26:31) |

The rest of the disciples had said "Lord, is it I?" but Judas used Master to address him who he was about to betray and to whom he was NOT in fact serving. (note for Matthew 26:25) |

Note: Christ had already identified that he would die by way of betrayal. Now he was clearly narrowing it down to only 12 possible candidates for betrayal. Perhaps Judas thought that Christ's earlier warning of betrayal was too broad and general that perhaps it could be a general betrayal by the Jewish nation, but now the betrayal was isolated to Christ's innermost circle and most trusted disciples and confidants.
Matthew 26:21
And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.
Matthew 26:21
And as they did eat, he said, Verily I say unto you, that one of you shall betray me.

Christ was seemingly open about the impending events surrounding his death. MY TIME IS AT HAND. That's pretty clear. (note for Matthew 26:18) |

Note: I find it interesting to note that the phrase "after all we can do" comes AFTER the phrase stating that we are saved by grace. Whather this is a deliberate word placement or part of the translation, I don't know bit it doubly re-emphasizes the point.
2 Nephi 25:23
For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do.

Note: What could be going through Judas' mind at this point? According to Matthew's chronology, Christ had already warned of his death by betrayal. Everyone knew it and yet Judas continued his course of action. Everyone knew there was a Satanic spy in their midst and he continued to act as a mole motivated by Mammon.
Matthew 26:16
And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.

Note: I wonder if the woman had listened to Christ's warnings of his impending death and was conciously doing what she was doing or was simply moved by the spirit to perform this work upon Christ. It should have been plain to the disciples that he was going to die within mere days and be buried.
Matthew 26:12
For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.
Matthew 26:12
For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it for my burial.
